2012 SIV Clinics
SIV stands for Simulated Incident in Flight. SIV clinics are designed to give pilots a new awareness of their wing, and how to handle dynamic situations while flying in the wild. Participating in a SIV Clinic will increase a pilot’s confidence and open a new dimension of flying confidence.
Maneuvers conducted at Flystyle’s SIV Clinics may include the following:
- Asymmetric Tucks - Full Frontal Tucks - B Line Stalls - Spirals
- Pitch Control - Full Stalls - Spins - Wingovers
SIV clinics are an important part of becoming a competent paragliding pilot who is ready to deal with events while flying. Most clinics are three days long and cover a wide variety of important academic and practical training. We're excited to help you with the very latest piloting techniques and up to date information. If you haven’t taken the time to do an over the water safety clinic you owe it to yourself to get the knowledge and feeling necessary to handle your wing in all situations.
Flystyle will be running our SIV Clinics this summer in the NE corner of Oregon over beautiful Wallowa Lake, which has the highest vertical gondola in the US. By traveling to this location we are able to get our students as high as a boat tow without the hassle of towing and drastically increase the number of coaching time you will get. We guide pilots under radio supervision through a progressive set of maneuvers to build their understanding and confidence. Pilots come away from these clinics with a new appreciation for the gliders ability to correct itself, and the ability to give the right amount of control at the right time when it becomes necessary.
After a handful of SIV clinics and a fair amount of logged free flying hours pilots can begin to work on paragliding ACRO, under the guidance a proficient coach.
Here's a video from your Flystyle SIV Instructor, Jon Malmberg... Please note, he has trained under Brad Gunnuscio for several years and has experienced an abundance of SIV clinics. Jon definitely rules the Columbia River Gorge when it comes to Acro and the Flystyle crew looks to him a mentor and super rad Acro coach.
